Come and see this new and exciting format of Polo in the Spring league played at Stewarton Polo Club on April 14th, 21st and 28th at 2pm

Spring Season

Oh my what a miserable Winter it has been. In the 20 years the club has opened we have never cancelled so much Polo. It has been absolutely grim

On the positive side the nights are now much lighter and we will be starting evening lessons soon. We also have the Spring League to look forward to.

Boot camp for beginners starts on April 7th. The camp is a great way to start Polo with a one hour lesson every Sunday over 6 weeks. Call us now if you want to join in the fun on 07974 706045 or email info@stewartonpolo.co.uk

Fingers crossed for drier weather soon, we can’t wait to get on the grass

Perth Tournament

This weekend we put out an all women’s team for the Perth tournament. The team was a mixture of experienced and novice players.

Saturday was a hard fought match in blustery conditions. The newly formed team struggled a bit to link up at the beginning but Kate Mckinney played some beautiful Polo to keep them in the game.

By the third and fourth chukkas, they were beginning to work together as a team and had some great link ups. They valiantly fought to take the win.

On Sunday, strangely the organisers switched the team they were meant to play in the Final. Something that has never happened before. They were put against a team that they really struggled against and with umpiring only going in one direction it was a tough match which they sadly lost

Covid Didn’t Dent Enthusiasm

2020 has been a ghastly year in many respects. Lack of social contact, no holidays and restricted to our counties but amongst all the doom and gloom there was Polo. This sport gives so much, fun, friends, exercise and of course the wonderful ponies but this year more than any it gave so much more. With our lives being severely restricted Polo gave us all at least one thing to look forward to.

We may not have been able to play as before and there were no tournaments but at least we could get together for training sessions and private lessons. It kept us all from going insane. There is nothing like flying around on a Polo pony whacking a ball to blow away the doom and gloom.

Another bonus of restricted play was it gave our young ponies and new players space to grow with time and no pressure. We have seen a jump in new members who have found how wonderful this sport is.

God knows what 2021 will bring but at least we have Polo!

Summer Season 2020

It is nearly here but bloody hell it has been a long Winter. All credit to those hardy members who came out despite the appalling weather.

We are really looking forward to Summer. The club has courses, camps and tournaments lined up - please check the fixtures page.

As always we are very keen to get new players joining us. Coaching is run everyday bar Monday. Please call Juan on 07718 066326 to book a lesson. Don’t worry if you have never ridden before, we can teach you!

We have a couple of livery spaces left for anyone who would like to bring their own horse.

Roll on the Summer. It is going to be great.

Livery

We are now accepting a limited number of non-polo full livery clients at Stewarton Polo Club.

Our quiet, friendly yard is located just 10 miles from Edinburgh City Centre between South Queensferry and Winchburgh.

Livery clients can enjoy:

  • high quality stables in a large barn, where you can have plenty of peace to enjoy your horse.

  • A huge 50m x 100m outdoor arena (that can fit 3 dressage arenas in i)t!

  • A lit indoor arena for flatwork (27m x 17m)

  • 1 mile exercise track

  • Lovely off road hacking including the five furlong gallops

  • Spacious and well maintained paddocks

  • A heated members room to grab a coffee

  • A locked tack room for your tack

  • Trailer/Lorry parking

We include one free lesson per month in a group lesson for our livery clients.  This can be used for yourself or your partner/child over 12.  There is no pressure at our yard to take up polo, but we love to share our passion for the sport and give our clients the chance to discover polo and get to know our extended Stewarton family of friendly members enjoying horses!

Call Karina on 07974 706045 for further info or message us.

Polo Camp

Why should the kids have all the fun. The members asked for it, we are delivering it. A brilliant weekend of Polo, food and too much alcohol!!

Bring your ponies, tents, Horseboxes or whatever you want to stay in. The weekend will brush up your technique, refine your tactics and provide much revelry.

July 12-14th. Not to be missed!!

Westfield Wizards win Frostbite League

The Frostbite League is always a great way to warm up for the Summer season and is thoroughly enjoyed by all participants even on the coldest days.

This year saw some hard fought matches and very excitingly came down to the last match between Silver Foxes and Westfield Wizards to decide the League.

Both teams needed to make a substitute due to exams calling away their players and both subs acquitted themselves admirably. That match started off neck and neck and it looked like Silver Foxes were the stronger side but in the third chukka the Wizards got the wind in their sails and ran out the winners

Summer Season

Summer season is just around the corner and we will be hoping it is as great as last year. We open on April 10th after a short break.

We have Polo planned for our seasoned players and for absolute beginners. The club is hosting both a women’s and mixed tournament plus there will be regular matches just for our members.

As well as Polo, we have plenty planned on the social side too. Our start of season bbq is on April 27th and after then we will be having a bbq lunch after Saturday chukkas. I am sure there will be a couple of nights out too

Come and join us this season. We would love to welcome you into our Polo family.

Learn Polo in 2019

So a New Year is about to begin, full of exciting possibilities. What to change, what to keep and what new things to do. Polo might not be the first thing to enter your mind but from our clients perspective they say it is life changing.

Here at Stewarton our members refer to themselves as the Polo family. Not only have they learned a great sport, had lots of fun but they have made some of the most supportive friends anyone could want.

If you are thinking of learning, the early months of the year are the best time. If you learn in Winter you are ready to play for Summer when the most fun happens.

Get in touch today to start your Polo journey. It really is the start of a whole new life.

Winter Season

Those long, sunny days seem a long time ago as I sit in the office writing this with the wind blowing like crazy outside but just because the days are colder the action has not cooled down. After our end of season break we are back full throttle into Winter season.

This week we welcomed back all the university students from last year and met a whole lot of new university teams this year.

Many of our Summer members are continuing through the Winter as this really is the best time to improve your Polo and get it upgraded a level by the Summer. Year after year we see those who continued to play the arena season reaping the rewards when we hit the grass in April.

As always we continue to offer lessons for beginners through the Winter so if you are tempted to have a go,now really is the best time to start so you are up and runnig in time for Summer.

We have have full social calendar planned starting off with the change of season dinner and the fabulous new restaurant Scott’s which has opened in the marina in South Queensferry.

Come and join us for an action packed Winter.
