FAQ's
Do you need to be able to ride to play Polo?
No, we can teach people to play Polo even if they have not sat on a horse before
How long does it take to learn Polo?
It very much depends on your riding ability and your hand/eye co-ordination but as a starting point aim for six lessons before trying your first practice chukka
What is a chukka?
A chukka is a period of time in Polo, a bit like halves in other sports. In Polo practice games are referred to as chukkas.
What do I need to wear?
For your lesson, please wear jeans or jodphurs with boots. It is essential your footwear has a heel so your foot doesn't slip through the stirrup. We have hats you can borrow. It is also a good idea to have gloves to prevent blisters.
Do I need a horse to compete?
No, you can hire one of ours for practice games and tournaments but many members like to buy their own horse so they are familiar with it and also it works out cheaper if you play a lot.
How much does it cost to hire a horse?
£55 per chukka. You can chose to play 2 or 4 chukkas in a game.
How much is Livery and Polo with my own horse?
Livery is £500 per month. Once you pay your membership, chukkas are free and you can play up to four times a week.
Why should I try Polo?
It is a lot of fun! Not only that we run a lot of social events for members so you will meet new people. It is also great exercise and will get you fit without all the pain.
Are people able to watch?
Yes! We love welcoming to the club. We play on Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays.
What do I wear to watch?
Despite the reputation, Polo is actually pretty casual. Jeans and trainers are perfectly ok or something smarter if that is what you are comfortable in.
