Gearing up for Summer

Least said about this Winter the better. In the 20 years the club has been opened we have never had to cancel so much due to the weather. It was either too wet, too windy or frozen. Roll on Spring!

Lessons are ongoing and no doubt as the weather settles, people will be more enthused to come out and play.

We have our Spring league starting in April which is open to members. It is always a great way to start the season and brush up rusty skills before we go onto the grass.

We are looking forward to a busy Summer with the highlight being our 20 year Anniversary tournament the first weekend in August.

Winter Season

After a very successful grass season with Stewarton taking home the spoils at most of the tournaments, we now focus on arena season.

Arena is great fun with it’s many twists and turns and is much easier to learn if you are a beginner. It is also a great time to train young horses.

This Winter we have many things lined up including parties, tournaments and our beginner’s course in October. Book soon if you are interested in that as places are going fast.

Let The Season Begin

We are back playing after the Winter break and looking forward to the 2023 season.

Last year was great with lots of Sunny days and many tournament victories. We are looking forward to more of the same this year!

At the moment we are playing club chukkas (practice matches) on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2.30 and running beginners lessons in between.

We would really love to see some new members this year so whether you have never sat on a horse or are an experienced rider that has never tried Polo, give us a call. The ponies are all very quiet so ideal to learn on and it great fun.

Grass Season 2022

It’s nearly here. The field is cut and the Sun is shining. All the members are waiting in anticipation.

We had an excellent season in 2021 so we are hoping for more of the same this year. The forecast for May, June and July is certainly looking good. Just hope that stays for the beginning of August when we have our tournament.

We are looking forward to welcoming new members to join the merry bunch we have now. There certainly will be no shortage of BBQ’s to add to the Polo. One almost every weekend if my memory serves me right from last year!

We would also like to welcome more spectators to join our tailgate picnics on Sundays. Matches start at 2pm

Come along. Polo might just surprise you.

A Great Grass Season

It may have been a fairly wet and miserable start to grass season but once the Sun came out we were treated to lots of lovely sunny days. Sunny weather always encourages people to play Polo and this Summer we welcomed many more new members to the extent the club is now full. There are still the odd slots for lessons though.

It has been a very successful season for the Stewarton teams capturing a few tournament wins and runners up in the others. The horses all went very well and finished the season in great condition.

We played a lot this year with some members clocking up over 300 chukkas so the little break before arena season will be welcomed by those tired bodies.

Arena season kicks off on October 5th when we look forward to welcoming back the university players and not forgetting we all have the end of season party to look forward to too. Edinburgh had better brace itself!!

Spring Report

We have had a very busy Spring. So many of our new members have now purchased their own ponies after starting by hiring ours. This means the keen beans instead of coming out just once a week are now playing three or four times a week!

Polo like any sport means the more you play, the better you get. There is nothing like time in the saddle and these new members with their new horses are building bonds giving them greater confidence.

We are all looking forward to the grass season and hopefully we will get some tournaments soon!

Rain, Rain and More Rain

Kerrie and Juan are battling the elements at the moment. We may be in lockdown but we still have to keep the ponies ticking over in the hope we can play soon.

We are allowed to do private lessons but the weather is not very conducive for that at the moment and the next week doesn’t look much better. I am sure you are all desperate to get out so as soon as you see a dry day when it’s not frozen, get in touch

Lockdown

Normally at this time of year we are getting the horses fit for the coming season and are packed with lessons after people decide to take up something new for the new year. This year we are in lockdown and the ground is stone cold frozen.

Our horses are loving this time as all we can do is hack around the fields. It’s very chilled and we have had cold but sunny days which have been really nice.
